A Clockwork Orange!

One of the weirdest movies I have ever seen.. Maybe the weirdest, yes..

It is a stanley Kubrick movie, from 1971. I wonder how he could dare to produce such a weird movie in those years, he must be a bold director.
The characters use a poetic language, but it's not so hard to understand.
In the movie, wee see a gang of teenagers who are vandals. They just try to give harm everybody, even themselves without any purpose. One day, the leader of the gang, Alex (Malcolm McDowell) is caught and put into the jail. There, in order to get out of the jail as soon as possible, he agrees to try "aversion therapy". by this therapy, when he sees something bloody, he vomits, or he cannot touch any woman. After the therapy, he is released as he hates violence now, but the other members of the gang are still after him.

I cannot find anything else to write about it, as I said it is a bold movie. Full of violence.. I believe that most people won't like it when they watch, but it became one of my favorites.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind!!

Have you so bad times that you don't want to remember? Have you ever wished you keep no memory at all about a person, your ex boy/girlfriend for example?

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind is a 2004 film by Michael Gondry.
The movie starts from the end, so in the first 15 minutes you don't understarnd waht's going on:)
Let me give you the summary of the film.
Joel and Clementine were in a relationship (we understand this after a while), and they broke up. Joel finds out that Clementine made her memory erased in order not to remember anything about Joel, because she was suffering. this makes joel very angry and he goes to the same clinic to make his memory erased too.
During the operation, as he remembers the memories, he decides to cut it off, he wants to keep his memories, but as the doctors (or whatever they are) are having party, they cannot communicate with him. He tries so hard not to give hise memories but he fails, so, his all memory is erased...

The people with their fresh memories find themselves again, and, surprisefully(!) falls in love again:) this is the power of true love, I think..

Some quotes:

Joel: Is there any risk of brain damage?
Doctor: Well, technically speaking, the operation is brain damage, but it's on a par with a night of heavy drinking. Nothing you'll miss.

Joel: I could die right now, Clem. I'm just... happy. I've never felt that before. I'm just exactly where I want to be.

Clementine: Joely?
Joel: Yeah Tangerine?
Clementine: Am I ugly?
Joel: Uh-uh.
Clementine: When I was a kid, I thought I was. I can't believe I'm crying already. Sometimes I think people don't understand how lonely it is to be a kid, like you don't matter. So, I'm eight, and I have these toys, these dolls. My favorite is this ugly girl doll who I call Clementine, and I keep yelling at her, "You can't be ugly! Be pretty!" It's weird, like if I can transform her, I would magically change, too.
Joel: [kisses Clementine] You're pretty.
Clementine: Joely, don't ever leave me.
Joel: You're pretty... you're pretty... pretty...

The Illusionist !!

The Illusionist is an 2006 movie directed by Neil Burger.

Eisenheim(Edward Norton) is a very good illusionist and he organizes a show in his homwtown where he left years before. People believe he can communicate with the poeple from the other world and he is not just an ordinary illusionist. He becomes so popular that the Prince(Rufus Sewell) comes to see his show. During the show, Eisenheim wants a volunteer, and prince presents his fiancee Sophie (Jessica Biel), whi is also Eisenheim's childhood lover. They recognize each other and start to meet secretly. Prince learns this, wants Eisenheim to be arrested and charges Inspector Uhl for this job.
One day, Sophie says the prince that she wants to leave him, and drunk prince gets so angry that he teases Sophie, then we see sophie lying on her horse with blood. The next day Sophie is found dead in the river.
Eisenheim, very sad, starts to call spirits in his show and one day he invites Sophie's spirit who confesses that she was killed by the prince, and when Uhl is about to arrest him, Eisenheim dissappers. Uhl finds some evidents justifying that the prince is the murderer, and goes to arrest him. Prince commits suicide.
At the end of the film, by the eye of Inspector Uhl, we see what happened actually, which is very different from what we have seen and thought.
I advise you to watch the film.

Derek : Alright listen up, we need to open our eyes. There's over two million illegal immigrants bending down in this state tonight. This state spend three billion dollars last year on services, on people who had no right to be here in the first place. Three billion dollars. 400 million just to lock up a bunch of illegal immigrant criminals who only got in this country because the fucking INS decided it's not worth the effort to screen for convicted felons.

V for Vendetta!!

" Remember, remember.. The 5th of November..."

V for Vendetta is a 2005 film directed by James McTeigue.

V is our shadowy character hiding himself a symbolic smiling-faced Guy Fawkes mask and he is fighting against the government because he wants freedom for the society. He is trying to finish what Guy Fawkes left incompleted:he will burn the house of Parliement.
And Evey is just an ordinary girl, till she is rescued from the secret police by V and somehow she becomes V's ally. while helping him to realize his plans, she falls in love with him. V is very kind, polite while using terroristic attacks towards the government.

On the 5th of November, by the help of Evey... Can he realize his plan? watch and see:)

Here is the famous speech V makes on tv:
"Good evening, London. Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforts of every day routine- the security of the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in the spirit of commemoration, thereby those important events of the past usually associated with someone's death or the end of some awful bloody struggle, a celebration of a nice holiday, I thought we could mark this November the 5th, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat. There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent. Last night I sought to end that silence. Last night I destroyed the Old Bailey, to remind this country of what it has forgotten. More than four hundred years ago a great citizen wished to embed the fifth of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that fairness, justice, and freedom are more than words, they are perspectives. So if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you then I would suggest you allow the fifth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me one year from tonight, outside the gates of Parliament, and together we shall give them a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot. "

Leon, the professional!!

Leon is produced in 1994 by Luv Besson with starring Jean Reno and Natalie Portman.

It is one of the movies in whose end I found myself crying:( It will be one of my bests throughout my life. i'm sure.

Leon is a professional hitman, and Mathilda is his 12-year-old neighbor. Mathilda's father is involved in drug dealing and one day his enemies come their home, assassinate her parents and her baby brother while Mathilda was in the grocery store. she comes home and finds out everybody is dead; Leon pities her and decides to take care of her.

Mathilda brings love, fun and emotions to his life, and he always wants to keep her out of trouble, but can he be successful? Watch and see..

In the movie, yes we feel love between two, but what kind of a love? Is it possible that a 12-year-old girl and a man about 30s fall in love with each other? Is it ethical? But even if they are in love, this doesn't disturb you as there are no touches.

Pulp Fiction!!

One of the best movies I have ever seen!
Pulp fiction is a movie produced by Quentin Tarantino in 1994.
We have Vincent Vega (John Travolta), a hitman, and his friend Jules. They are behind a stolen suitcase of their boss, Marsellus Wallace. Also, when he is out if the cuty, Wallace asks Vincent to show his wife Mia (Uma Thurman) a good time. Vincent tries to be loyal to his boss, everything goes well till one of them mekas a big mistake and things get complicated.
This movie is called one of the cult movies. It is weird, but impressive at the same time. At the end, you just look and say "so..?", but when you think about it sometime, you can make connections and understand it.
If you are a kind of person who just want definite ends in the movies, this one is not a good choice for you. But if you like cult movies, and if you wanna hear good music throughout the film, watch Pulp fiction.
Here are link for some music from the OST of the movie, just click on them.
You can also watch the trailer if you click here.
and lastly, here are some quotes from the movie that I like:
Mia: "I do believe Marsellus Wallace, my husband, your boss, told you to take ME out and do WHATEVER I WANTED. Now I wanna dance, I wanna win. I want that trophy, so dance good. "
Mia: " Don't you hate that?"
Vincent:"what'?
Mia:"Uncomfortable silences. Why do we feel it's necessary to talk about bullsh*t in order to be comfortable? "
Vincent:"I don't know. That's a good question. "
Mia:"That's when you know you've found somebody special. When you can just shut the f**k up for a minute and comfortably enjoy the silence."

3:10 to yuma!

"Time waits for one man.." Ben Wade! He will be put on 3:10 train to Yuma, where the big prison for very cruel murderers is.
3:10 to Yuma has two versions, one in 1957, and the other is in 2007. I haven't watched the former one, but I'll talk baout the one in 2007.
Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) is a criminal: a murderer, a thief. Now he is arrested, and has to be taken to take the train. It is not an easy job, because the gang of Ben Wade, who are also cruel and successfull(!) murderers, are somewhere outside trying to rescue their boss.
Dan Evans (Christian Bale), a poor farmer, is an handicapped man; he is hobbling while walking because of the injury he got while he was a soldier. As he need money, he finds himself in one of the escorts taking Wade to Yuma.
During the fights, non-stop action, we observe different realtionships and a closeness between Wade and Evans. Finally, we find out that Evans' aim while taking this duty was not only money, but somethong else: being a hero for his son, because he wasn't a veteran in fact.. Can he succeed this? Watch and see:)
This movie, especially the end of it, was very impressive. I found a teardrop on my cheek when it came to the end. I strongly advise you to watch it. you can start by watching the trailer, by clicking here.
Here are some quotes from the movie:
Wade: "Well, would you look at all this? You all spared no expense this time, Byron. I gotta say, though, it's probably cheaper just to let me rob the damn thing."
Butterfield(stage line owner): "Twenty-two robberies, over four hundred thousand dollars in losses."
Wade: "Ya'll notice he didn't mention any of the lives I've taken?"
Evans (to his son) : "Just remember, it's your old man that hauled Ben Wade to that station... when nobody else would. "
